It’s that time of year! The weather is slowly (and I mean slowly) cooling down, the days are getting a wee bit shorter and the nights a touch longer, and the crème de la crème are pouring into NYC for the peak time in the fashion industry: New York Fashion Week. I am in NO means a fashion guru, blogger, or enthusiast. My style is that of a junior high-schooler who just happened to opened to the affordable page of a Cosmopolitan magazine. AKA, I don’t have a style. I simply know what works for me and my body type. C’est tout. But if any stylist out there would like to make me their test subject, hit ya girl up! I could use a makeover.
With designers, models, and buyers gallivanting all over the city, it was pretty inevitable that I would stumble upon something worth sharing. Last weekend, my girl friend invited me to attend a pop-up shop hosted by The Folklore. This event was held exclusively for private press and influencers to celebrate the release of their new website. This two day pop-up shopping showcased accessories, apparel, and shoe styles from their 19 designers including, Orange Culture, Andrea Iyamah (my personal FAVORITE), Tokyo James, Pichulik, and more.
It was such a spectacular evening filled with food, drinks, and music by none other than DJ Akili King. Sis was spinning mixes of alternative R&B, Afrobeats (sn: y’all know the Nigerian in me came out to shaku shaku real quick), and Hip-Hop while I got my entire life browsing through the racks of phenomenal pieces.
Check out pictures from the event below and don’t forget to head over to The Folklore website to grab some dope pieces to add to your fall/spring collection. Until next time xxx bisous.
