Loving you was the best thing I’ve ever done.
Over the last 3 years, I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow and develop into a woman I am so proud to know. During seasons of heartbreak, failures, self-doubt, and fear, you never failed to be there for me, guiding me through the darkness even when I was certain I’ve lost all sense of direction to light. I’ve watched you push through so many doors with resiliency and challenge any boundaries that threaten to slow you down. For the last 3 years I’ve had a front row seat in watching your transformation into a thoughtful, strong, and passionate woman. However, I never stopped you long enough to say I love you.
I love you because…
…You never cease to help those in need, even if it’s at your own expense. You’re selflessness is oftentimes overlooked but it’s my hope you never lose that quality. Keep giving baby girl.
…Of your fire. There’s is a flame inside of you that is constantly burning. Your hunger and passion towards your purpose, what you are meant to do in this life, and the intensity at which you seek to bring it to life, is beautiful. You’re unapologetically daring. Keep that fire baby girl.
…You are NEVER serious lol. Majority of the time you are laughing and smiling your way through each day. While you work hard to be a dynamic force in your professional life, that hasn’t stopped you from being the most hilarious and unserious person I know. Keep smiling baby girl.
…You chose to walk by faith. Your twenties are some of the most confusing years. Approximately NO one knows what they’re doing, but everyone is doing something. I love you because you never rush to compete in someone else’s race. Your faith in the course life is taking you is something to witness. When you trust yourself and your purpose, you cannot fail. While certain things may not work out as you want them to, that’s okay. It’s all part of the process and each of these is directing you to what’s right for you. Keep the faith baby girl.
…You chose to love yourself. Cheesy as it sounds, it’s true (and the purpose of this letter). You’ve made mistakes in life, some of which you elected not to grow from; but it was from a lack of personal understanding and love. Your experiences (both the good and the bad) and your commitment to loving yourself first has made you into the woman I love deeply. You still have a ways to go on this journey, but remember that growth takes time, and you’ve done a damn good job thus far.
There will be days I forget to tell you I love you. If you ever doubt that I do, read this letter again. I love everything about you! Your bright light is a getaway into the beauty of what you have to offer this life.
In the words of Beyoncé: “I love you Deep Deep. BIG deep.”
Sincerely, Ify
To everyone reading, oftentimes we are our biggest critic. In our moments of doubt, fear, anger, etc., we forget to love on ourselves. I’m here to remind you to show yourself some love today and everyday thereafter. So Love on yourself; love on yourself REAL good. You are beautifully and wonderfully made and that deserves some loving. Happy Valentine’s Day ღ
